Welcome to 5/6W!
Welcome to our class page. What a busy term we have had; the highlight of which was a day visit for a Tudor Christmas at Wollaton Hall, where the children made pomanders, took part in traditional Tudor dancing, performed a mummers play and learned about how rich Tudors celebrated Christmas.
Earlier in the term, the children took learned all about safety in and outside the home. They learned how to do CPR, basic first aid and safety on public transport and near open water.
Writing opportunities have been covered throughout the curriculum in science, RE, and history. Within their English lessons, they have written biographies, letters, poetry and short narratives.
During their maths lessons, the children have focused on fluency in the four operations and their achievements in arithmetic have gone from strength to strength. Their enthusiasm to complete their missions on Times Table Rockstars is having a beneficial effect on their speed and accuracy.
Parental support with reading at home resulted in a non-uniform day for our class, as well as vastly improving their access to the texts that we use within class.
We are extremely pleased with their progress so far and we hope they have a wonderful break and come back refreshed in the new Spring Term.
