Welcome to 6R!
Welcome to Year 6! What a fantastic start to the year we have had so far. They have settled in as Year 6s very quickly and are determined to progress with their learning. Already this year, we have covered some fantastic genres of writing: a biography on Walter Tull; a letter home from a soldier; a short narrative and a poem around Diversity. The children have continued their writing across the curriculum by producing and recording a Science experiment around forces.
In topic, we have commemorated WW1 by producing poppies, learning about ‘The Christmas Truce’ and researching the past 100 years since the War. We have also been studying the Tudors and have enjoyed a trip to Wollaton Hall. I am really impressed with the progress so far; the children have been working hard in their Arithmetic tests and this is evident in their results.
In 6R, we are using a range of websites to support learning. If you could continue to help your children with their learning at home by using the following websites.
I will be posting a link shortly to our online blog where you can access your child’s work. Also, remember to check Pobble as I will be publishing children’s work regularly.
