Welcome to Year 5&6 Thunberg class page!
Our class name is Thunberg – we are going to be carrying out lots of research as to why Greta Thunberg is an inspirational figure in the world today over the course of the year.
We are Mrs Perkinson and Miss Graham, we are pleased to meet you and the children.
The children have made a fantastic start to the year and we are so impressed with all of the hard work and effort they are putting in already.
For the first two weeks we are concentrating on our emotional wellbeing and understanding how we can look after ourselves and keep ourselves safe during the difficult time we are facing.
For the remainder of the half term our topic theme is called: ‘The Journey,’ We are going to be investigating and exploring the Heroic Age of Polar Exploration. We are going to do this by engaging in the text, ‘Shackleton’s Journey,’ and by watching short documentary clips by David Attenborough. We will be producing a biography and a diary entry as well as creating some wonderful artwork inspired by David McEown. We are going to completely immerse ourselves in the wonders of Antarctica!
Weekly homework will consist of:
All children have been given their log on information, this can be found in their reading diary. Please keep this safe. Children will earn Dojo points for completion of homework.
Our P.E. days are Wednesday and Friday. We will be asking children to take their P.E. kits home on a Friday so that they can be washed and brought back into school the following Wednesday.
We do update class Dojo frequently and it is a great way of communicating. Please keep checking for messages on there.
