Bulwell St Mary's Primary and Nursery SchoolWhere Your Journey Begins

YR3 - Tigers

Welcome to the 3 Tigers class page!

Our class name this year is the Tigers, after the marvellous, endangered species from Asia. There are nine different types of tigers and three of them are extinct.

In class 3Tigers, we have very high expectations of behaviour so that we can begin the year with a smooth transition to lower key stage 2.

Be respectful, Be Responsible and Be Ready. We want to ensure your child is happy and learning so that they can flourish at Bulwell St Mary’s.

Curriculum:

Each half-term we have a whole school concept that we follow. We then have our own Year 3 learning question linked to this concept.

See our curriculum updates on Class Dojo to find out what we are learning about each half term.

It is evidently proven that the best way for children to thrive and achieve is with a secure and consistent approach at school and at home!

Weekly homework will consist of:

  • Reading at home at least 4 times a week – please sign your child’s reading diary and ensure that the reading book and diary are brought back into school.
  • Times Table practise on TTRS – children will be offered challenges on there – can they beat their teachers’ scores?
  • Spelling to practise, with a test in school on a Friday. You child also can also access games on Spelling Shed.
  • Creative curriculum half termly homework linked to our topic.

All children have been given their log on information; this can be found in their reading diary. Please keep this safe. Children will earn Dojo points for completion of homework. I understand some may not have access to digital devices or internet at home, please let me know if this is an issue for your family and I will support you in resolving this!

Swimming/PE

Our swimming day is on a Tuesday. We aim to leave just after lunch to be at Ken Martin Leisure centre for 1:15pm. Please ensure your child brings a swimming suit, towel and goggles if required, with a permission slip. Swimming will continue up until December. Please ensure your child is not wearing any jewellery on that day and if they have long hair, it should be tied back. Thank you.

Our P.E. day is on a Friday. We will be asking children to take their P.E. kits home on a Friday so that they can be washed and brought back into school the following Monday.

Class Dojo:

We do update class Dojo frequently and it is a great way of communicating. Please keep checking for messages on there. If you have any concerns or worries please don’t hesitate to get in touch, I am here to support you all as well as your children!

We are very excited to see what this year holds and even more excited to be working with each and every one of your children!
