Sports Premium
We believe that physical education, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is a unique and vital contributor to a pupil's physical development and well-being. Through the selection of suitably differentiated tasks, it is intended that pupils, irrespective of their starting ability, will enjoy success and be motivated to further develop their individual potential.”
At Bulwell St Mary’s C of E Primary School we believe PE & Sport play an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better. We have welcomed the Government’s announcement to extend the Sport Premium to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils and we are committed to using this resource for developing high-quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sporting competitions and clubs for all our young people.
Sustainability
We are also using the Sport Premium to provide CPD for our PE Co-ordinator, teaching and support staff. This is done through our partnership with Premier Sports. Premier Sports are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of children through physical activity. Premier Sports provide CPD, after school clubs and curriculum support and provide half termly assessments so that we can track the progress of all children.
What does the Sport Premium mean for Bulwell St Mary’s C of E Primary School?
'Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this’ (DfE June 2013).
At Bulwell St Mary’s C of E Primary School we are using the following key indicators:
Increase pupil participation in competitions, interschool sport and events.
To instil in pupils a love of sport and physical activity.
To broaden the sporting opportunity available to pupils.
Deliver high quality PE lessons as well as supporting identified school staff with CPD across the terms.
